Black Eagle

Brewery: Brew York

Style: Black IPA

Like the title, this is a dark ale in the style of an IPA

On the aroma the smell is just like a normal IPA with no extra roasted malt flavours. The palate is very full-bodied and full of fizz. The flavours start with a burst of roasted malts and finish with a lovely bitter hop flavour that is reminiscent of an American IPA.

Houblon Chouffe

Style: IPA (Belgian Blonde)

This beer is Belgiums interpretation of an IPA. The Houblon has amazingly powerful hop aromas because of the American hops. This transfers into the flavour which is full of citrus and bitter hoppynes. The taste complexity is well balanced, due to the higher alcohol content (9%).

Gould Bullion

Brewery: The Five Points Brewing Co-

This beer packs a bunch with it;s hops flavours but at the same time it stays quite subtle on the palate. Brewed with British Kent hops it is a good representation of British styled ales but still has a the flavour expected from a new world IPA.

Brouwerij’t IJ Zatte

Brewery: BrewDog

Style: Tripel Belgium

Zatte was the first beer to be produced by this brewery way back in 1985 and is a tripel style, which is a category reserved for the stronger, blonde beers in Belgian tradition.

The enticing appearance of this beer is matched by its fruity aroma. The aroma has a malty sweetness that is mixed together with hints of citrus with a delicate yeast finish.

Big Wave Golden Ale

Pauwel Kwak

Brewery: Brouwerij Bosteels

Style: Heavy Special Amber

To explain this beer in one word is easy …….. It is PUNCHY. This beer packs a serious amount of alcohol, measuring in at whopping 8.4%.

There is no real depth or variety of flavour and although there is a subtle sweet finish the malts and hop flavours are lacking as the alcohol flushes them out. The real shock of this beer however came in the mouthful; considering its unassuming appearance it is extremely carbonated, packing your mouth full of excitable bubbles, which only manages to intensify the alcohol flavour.

Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Camden Pale

Brewery: Camden Town Brewery

Style: Pale Ale

The appearance of this beer is a vibrant golden colour, which is illuminated by a heavily carbonated body and a clean head. The aroma is the centre piece of this beer. Like many American styled pale ales the aroma is fruity and aromatic with subtle hoppy tones. For me this beer smelt like a fruit punch salad; the original scent is full of freshness and delight, which is then complemented by a mild citrus hoppy aroma to finish.
